Don’t let the poster – with its sack-headed, axe-wielding maniac – fool you. TRIANGLE, the third feature from British neauveau-horror maestro Christopher Smith, is no mere slasher film. With a clever plot that owes a heck of a lot more to THE TWILIGHT ZONE or ALFRED HITCOCK PRESENTS than FRIDAY THE 13th (of, for that matter, Hitchcock), the film is a susprisingly fresh take on the “haunted” house genre. For a start, the “house” is a big old ship, and the ghost – or villain – is a completely original creation – a very rare achievement in this genre. If you like thrillers that border on horror, TRIANGLE is highly recommended as a stand-out of its type.
